Emotional Intelligence For Teachers

What’s it about...?

‘Emotional Intelligence’ training focuses on the impact of the teacher’s emotional intelligence on student-behaviour , student-motivation and student performance. There are six skills: 1.Empathy 2.Humility 3.Dignity 4.Sensitivity 5.Sympathy 6.Relativity.

How does it help...?

The aim of the training is to improve the teacher’s ability to read the moods of students in lessons and adapt their teaching to the emotional states of students. By doing so, the training will show how adapting to students’ emotions will significantly improve teacher-student relationships, student motivation, leading to improved exam results.

Emotional Intelligence For Students

What’s it about...?

‘Emotional Intelligence’ training focuses on giving students an emotional language to help understand and manage their feelings. This emotional language is based around six emotional intelligence skills: 1.Empathy 2.Humility 3.Dignity 4.Sensitivity 5.Sympathy 6.Relativity.

How does it help...?

The training particularly helps to develop students’ awareness of their own and other people’s needs and feelings—both teachers and other students. This has an impact on listening, considering actions in-and-out of the classroom and reduced conflict in-and-out of the classroom.

Who is it for...?

Students from Years 7-13 who regularly create conflict in-and-out of the classroom. Students who find it hard to verbalise their feelings, often reverting to aggressive behaviour in-and-out of the classroom. Students who struggle with the emotional stress of deadlines and exams, often reverting to avoidance and denial.

Emotional Intelligence For Leaders

What’s it about...?

‘Emotional Intelligence’ training focuses on giving leaders an emotional language to recognise and manage their responses under pressure and the behaviour patterns of others. This emotional literacy is based around behaviour patterns—both negative and positive. The negative patterns are: 1.Negation, 2.Avoidance 3.Denial. The matching positive patterns are: 1. Validation 2.Addressing 3.Acceptance

How does it help...?

The training particularly helps leaders to recognise which ‘trauma buttons’ are pushed in crises-and-conflict situations. Recognition of these ‘buttons’ leads to a better management of emotions in a crisis and, therefore, better leadership in a crisis.

Who is it for...?

Leaders at all levels—from Middle-Leaders, to Senior Leadership to Headteachers. The training may also be helpful in implementing SEAL across the curriculum.
